Natural landscaping and stormwater systems were designed using native Michigan upland habitats in a natural landscape design for Grosse Ile Township Waste Water Treatment Plant. This provides reduced landscape maintenance, facility screening and water protection from stormwater runoff in an aesthetically pleasing landscape. The site may serve as an educational demonstration to constituents of alternative BMP’s for landscaping, storm water management, and habitat restoration.

This project involved site investigations of soil type, hydrology, BMP development, and native species composition for the system. A landscape plan was developed and a two year establishment plan was developed for the site.
