Soil Bioengineering BMP Research

Nativescape is conducting ongoing research on bioengineering BMPS (Best Management Practices) for erosion control, slope stabilization, and noise abatement. This research has been a worldwide search for bioengineering practices that have been used successfully. New developments are used for stream bank and shoreline restoration with Aquatic shelf systems to Green Walls for visual and noise barriers along roads and industrial areas.
Presettlement Ecosystem Determinations or Remnant Habitat Identification
Nativescape is conducting ongoing research of presettlement natural community types. All the biological, environmental, and public information is being searched. With this information, the natural community type is recommended for specific sites and seed specifications are provided for projects.
Historical Literature Search for Documented Prairie Habitat Remnants
This is an on going research project to identify all known prairie and savanna community types in the literature. All the biological, environmental, and public literature databases were searched. A GIS/ GPS survey will be a part of the final project.
Historical Research for Establishment of Marshland Museum in Lake Erie Metropark
Research involved literature searches of local “down-river” cultural and natural history at local libraries, museums, and with personal interviews. This information was used to develop museum displays and interpretive programs.
